ONE-OFF NEWCASTLE GIGWe had to look hard on a map to find it, but apparently Newcastle is in Australia! RMG are making their first foray down South in September to promote the new album and will be playing at one of the coolest venues on the East coast. To see how it works have a look at Dudley Behind Closed Doors. Tickets are already half gone (just like Willy B) so make sure you don't miss out. Hope to see you there. Links to the Basement gig in Sydney will follow shortly - WooHoo Big 'BluesFest' NewsBIG NEWS.... Check the website or the myspace page. It's very, very exciting. http://www.bluesfest.com.au/. We only finalised the deal yesterday so our slot may not be on there yet. Finalists in 2 Categories 2010 Golden Fiddle AwardsThe Round Mountain Girls were finalists in 2 categories at the 2010 Golden Fiddle Awards. They were finalists in the categories "Best band featuring a fiddler" and "Best CD by a band, group, ensemble or orchestra featuring a fiddler" 21.3.10 - BLUESFEST KOALA NAMED IN HONOUR OF ROUND MOUNTAIN GIRLSIn a beautiful twist of paradoxical juxtapositioness, the koala sanctuary on the fringe of the new Bluesfest site has named one of it's resident koalas "Round Mountain Boy". Round Mountain Boy is a lady bear carrying a young joey- still not quite old enough to have a full head of hair...just like Banjovi. The koalas have all been tagged to allow rangers to monitor their movements before, during and after the Bluesfest to see if the new festival site at Tyagarah (which borders their habitat) has an impact on their lifestyle. Ranger Dan told us that his partner had insisted that they name one of the koalas after her favourite six piece band. The band members were highly delighted with this new accolade which ranks right up there with the Golden Fiddle Awards. Rabbit stated that he was pleased to have another nocturnal fluffy animal associated with the band and that now he wasn't alone. Brooker and Brad both pointed out the obvious by drawing comparisons between Round Mountain Boy and her musical counterparts. " A koala spends around nineteen hours a day asleep, and the other six hours in moderate restlessness", said Brad who was never any good at maths. Brooker reckoned this was very much a typical day in the life of the elusive bassist Willy Bee. Rexona is also stoked as he is no longer the only grey-haired member of the band. When asked about her new name, Round Mountain Boy raised one eyebrow, farted, and then went back to sleep. She's clearly not as excited about the whole thing as the Girls are. The band intend viewing their namesake at some point during the festival. Ranger Dan has promised a formal introduction. ![]() |
