Meet You at The End

Released 2017 and recorded over 5 sessions at Rocking Horse Studios, Corrabell, NSW and Pete Murray’s Studio in Byron Bay. Meet You At The End is a Story Album, which tells the tale of a man who has had everything, lost everything and is clawing his way back.

Easily the band’s strongest release to date and also available on vinyl. Engineered and co-produced by Paul Pilsneniks, Mastering by Paul Blakey of 12th and Vine Post and Artwork by Kasha DeKlerk.

Please drop us a line on Facebook and tell us what you think!

The Story

1 – Young and Able – Chris Brooker
Sitting here now, I stare past the fading walls into years of bygone achievement; a beautiful family, boundless vision and the agency to pursue it. Did the world leave me behind, or did I shut it out? Wisdom then would have helped; now it only draws my mind to the places I went wrong.

2 – Knowing Nothing At All – Chris and Charlie Eaton
I was young- it started on a whim. A chance meeting at a party hosted by a mutual friend…but you were already planning to leave, to travel the world. I felt boring– ready for change. No plans, full of hope; for the first time in my life, spontaneity became King.

3 – The Constant Rhythm – Chris Eaton
We forgot everyone else and stepped blindly, blissfully, into the future. You were all consuming; all the intoxication I needed. Happily entangled, we never questioned the effortless rhythm our lives assumed. It never even occurred to me that something could drag us out of synchrony.

4 – Colonel Mustard – Chris Eaton
Gotta keep going faster- whiskeys all round! I’ve got a new mistress I just can’t seem to please, and I know I’m waking up on that old yellow lounge tomorrow. Here’s to another big one, then!

5-Black Candle – Chris Brooker
When the black candle flickers, ‘despise’ doesn’t look so different from ‘desire’. Your face becomes grotesque, and until the black candle’s light shifts again, you’re changed beyond recognition.

6-Something Wrong – Chris Brooker
By now it had complete control of me; in the rare hours of rational thought, I struggled with demons that lurked inside my head, tormenting me. Knowing that as soon as I succumbed….leaving home, turning away. Incapable of even acknowledging my self-inflicted prison.

7- Meet You at the End – Chris Brooker
Every day the same mistakes-the same desperate lunge for an echo of fulfilment. Unable to regret the insidious slide, I relinquished each shard of innocence with relish; any dreams gone by the wayside just to make me feel normal. The long term suffers for the short term’s gain, but six months’ time is another man’s pain…

8-Sons of Liberty – Chris Eaton
You raise them to be independent, but that means letting them make their own choices. The vessel for so much hope and promise; half a lifetime’s care, but still the last voice you want to hear at 3 am. In the ethereal stillness of the deep night, that phone call never bodes well.

9-Miss Fortune – Chris Eaton
There’s a hole in my bucket and I just can’t seem to fix it. The years go rushing through as I watch, half resigned, hoping to save something worthwhile. I’ll never know exactly where the damage was done; I’m not quite smart enough to work it out. All I know is that I desperately need help mending it.

10-Shocky – Chris Eaton
A friend from another life, these days we hardly spoke. Our different paths made me forget how close we were, before the 3 am call came as a stark reminder. Somehow, I wasn’t at all shocked.

Any resemblance to persons living or dead is the source of all inspiration and is entirely intentional. How it all finishes is still unclear – I’ll meet you at the end and we’ll find out together.

    Young and Able – C Brooker ©2017

Once I was young I was able
    Able to rule you out
Now I’m old and unable, unable to rule you out

Like a feather falling to the ground
    Slow motion, no sound
It’s the time I’ve spent, waiting of you, slow time is all I’ve got slow time

Cos Once I was young I was able
    Able to rule you out
    Now I’m old and unable
    Unable to rule you out

The sceptics in the shadow of your town
    Spin the rumour mill around
Where action gets the spoils, where distance is the void, that separates the stories form the truth

Did you get the letters I wrote
The emails the texts the posts
Cos I just your time to explain the reasons why, our lives went from bad to worse

Cos Once I was young I was able
    Able to rule you out
    Now I’m old and unable
    Unable to rule you out

KNOWING NOTHING AT ALL – Chris and Charlie Eaton © 2017

Wasn’t long before you’d changed my mind I’m leaving this town behind
Gamble on a one way ticket. I’m outta here
I’ll see you soon in Marakech or maybe in Amman
Floating on a Dead Sea but we’d never feel more alive

Together we will not grow old but one can only hope
Take this leap of faith, Together we will go
I wouldn’t wanna ever live with what ifs on my mind
I’d rather have the memories, Of what we’ve left behind

The future that I did predict has yet to be foretold
And now it’s changed, I’ll have to wait, the story to unfold
And bask in the knowledge of knowing nothing at all
I love you now I always will forever yours

The clock ticks on I’m back alone I’ll never be the same
The pages keep on turning but the story will remain
I’m glad I took that leap of Faith although my fingers burnt
I’ll take into the rest of life the lessons that I have learnt

It doesn’t seem real now, the closing of this door
We gave so much and had a lot but we have a fatal flaw
I wouldn’t wanna ever live with what ifs on my mind
I love you now I always will forever yours

The future that I did predict has yet to be foretold
And now it’s changed, I’ll have to wait, the story to unfold
And bask in the knowledge of knowing nothing at all
I love you now I always will forever yours

The Constant Rhythm – Chris Eaton © 2017

Did you say you’d love me till the end of time
Cos it don’t seem long enough in my mind
Friends did come and friends did go
But you’re the constant rhythm in this travelling show.

    I said Ay Oh
    I said Ay Ohh oh
You’re the constant rhythm in this travelling show

Did you say you’d love me when I’m worn and old
Cos fortunes favour the smart and the bold
If I’m on my own I’d be lost not found
You’re the earth in my heaven you’re the soil on our ground

    I said Ay Oh
    I said Ay Ohh oh
You’re the constant rhythm in this travelling show x2

It’s not the clown that rules the circus
It’s just a fool that tows the line
Did you say that you would love me
That you would love me till the end of time

    Colonel Mustard – Chris Eaton © 2017

What are we doing why are we here
    The riders got no whiskey
This business gotta have some soul
Ain’t got no soul no good to me

    Rikki Tikkis at my feet
As I gaze from Colonel Mustard
Lifes ok I got some soul
Got some soul its good for me

    “Go on…do another one”
    “More! More!”
    Glasses chinking, party noise

    http://www.roundmountaingirls.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/05-Black-Candle.mp3 Show Lyrics

    Black Candle – Chris Brooker © 2017

    Black Candle, burning between us
Smelling like a shop of imported goods
    Sweet wine, on my lips
I only remember, in certain moods

    Butterflies floating, flowers in glass
Being held back from what they want
    Summer mangoes, two sharp knives
Reminds me of, slices of your kiss and the black candle

Wet to the skin, of my soul,
To which you gave birth to which you gave death
Cut my lips, on you letter
Then I sealed it with black wax from the black candle

    There’s a black candle burning
    It’s burning between us

I need silver spear, straight through my heart to get rid of your shallow love

    Something Wrong – Chris Brooker © 2017

I like the way you laugh
Every time we speak it makes feel like I’m something that you need
We hold each other close and I feel like your song of the week
There’s a secret between us that no one else can see
The memories of us now make me feel sick

    Is something wrong?

There’s a time and a place to talk
But this ain’t one of them now I fear
    No words can ease me
There’s meaning in the quiet and there’s meaning in the silence of songs
It’s what you leave out and knowing when to go alone

    Is something wrong?
Is something wrong was a sign of the end
But I still didn’t know what you said

    Is something wrong?

    It’s a different kind hurt
It’s a different kind of pain

Splinter in my heart, Whiskey in my veins
That stings when I drink you and wipe you in my eyes
Burning its way out from the inside

    It’s a different kinda hurt
    It’s a different kinda pain

    Is something wrong?

Meet You At The End – Chris Brooker 2017 ©

Write a note to myself every now and then
Just to say don’t stuff it up again
    Tryin’ to find a way
    Tryin’ to find a way
Tryin’ to find a way just to keep it straight

Now I tell you that I’ve lost that voice
Inside my head that keeps my mind on the level
Takes a chip away, Takes a chip away
Takes a chip away every time you take it

I’ll meet you at the end
    I’ll meet you

Tiny holes in your soul, chipped away from it all
It’s hardened you up and it’s lookin’ for more
Takes a chip away, Takes a chip away
Takes a chip away from the voice I remember

The bills and the forms now returned to their sender
Finds a way to supply a 3 day bender
Takes a chip away,Tryin’ to find a way
Tryin’ to find a way just to make me feel normal

I’ll meet you at the end

6 months to go (on top of 6 just gone)
Time moves so slow (when you break it down)
I gotta get out, outta here

Am I a Freeman (only you can tell)
Now I know who I am (only time will tell)
Can I trust myself and start again

I’ll meet you at the end

  8. Sons Of Liberty

    http://www.roundmountaingirls.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/08-Sons-Of-Liberty.mp3 Show Lyrics

Sons of Liberty – Chris Eaton © 2017

One in the air, one in Africa, another in the Canuck snow
Try so hard to keep them close, then you have to let it go
Not so long since that was me, the boot was on the other foot
    That time’s gone
Hey ho look at that show when a flare shimmers out at sea
No it’s not alright in the middle of the night, Never right by me

You made mistakes, misunderstood, learning as you go
Try so hard to make amends, you try to let it show
You’ve tried the talk, it’s time for war, it’s time to be a man
    Now is now
Hey ho look at that glow when you see the red rockets glare
It’s a hideous site in the perilous fight, better say a silent prayer

Hey ho look at that show when a flare shimmers out at sea
No it’s not alright in the middle of the night, never right by me

Climb that hill, ride with haste, show us what you’ve got
Wear with pride the devils cut, nose ring full of snot
Break the bonds and break some bones
Red coat hung on a peg
    You’re on your own
Hey ho look at that show when a flare shimmers out at sea
No it’s not alright in the middle of the night, never right by me
Hey ho look at that glow when you see the red rockets glare
It’s a hideous site in the perilous fight, better say a silent prayer

    http://www.roundmountaingirls.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/09-Miss-Fortune.mp3 Show Lyrics

    Miss Fortune – Chris Eaton © 2017

It’s a sad reflection, Of what was once perfection
Of how the bubble burst and it rained on me
Whet the stone, keen the knife, cut the straw
Patch the pail and fetch the water,
Dear Liza, can you help me?

You don’t even know you’re on my mind
You can’t even know you’re on my mind

Trying to cover up those awkward cracks that reappear
Let time go by, they’ll heal themselves
Bad choice, bad fate, and a date with Miss Fortune
You lost your kingdom for want of a nail
Dear Liza, can you heal my weeping soul

You don’t even know you’re on my mind
You can’t even know you’re on my mind

    Shocky – Chris Eaton © 2017

I opened my eyes but the sun had gone down
When I heard the news I was out of town
The whistle blew but the train had gone
Thought I’d solved the puzzle but I couldn’t go on
Thought I knew the answer but the question’s wrong

    There’s a smile I hear and a soul I feel
The more I reminisce the less it’s real
Cos we laughed till we’d cry, then we’d laugh some more
We never saw it coming when you closed the door
No one saw it coming cos we need you more

We promised we’d live until tomorrow
House One was all we’d need to see us through
The endless days of dappled rays, flowed on and shone
We moved as one, when darkness came we played the game
    But it couldn’t last forever

Then I closed my eyes and the sun came out
I could toy with risk with my friends about
Then we’d do some coke then we’d do some more
Always a half empty pint glass on ya floor
You shoulda stayed on cos we wanted more
Fill the other half up cos we need you more

We promised we’d live until tomorrow
House one was all we’d need to see us through
The endless days of dappled rays, flowed on and shone
We moved as one, when darkness came we played the game
    But it couldn’t last forever

I opened my eyes but the sun’d gone down
When I heard the news I was out of town
The whistle blew but the train had gone
Thought I’d solved the puzzle but I couldn’t go on
