RMG Involved in Daring Raid to Liberate #1 Fan
Marshalled by Willy B (recently returned from Pakistan in his other role as a Navy Seal) the Round Mountain Girls successfully extricated Gupta Ravishankar from the Tweed Psychiatric Care Unit earlier this week.
Under cover of darkness and dressed in black waist-coats and bowler hats, the intrepid six piece stole into the ward and removed their number one devotee by engaging the services of a tea trolley fitted with off road wheels. Despite a ‘Benny Hill’ style chase through the hospital corridors, the RMG crack unit escaped with their quarry, suffering only minor injuries, mainly due to an upturned urn and a nasty slip on a jam doughnut.
On their return to RMG HQ, an elated Gupta was sent into a catatonic frenzy when he learned that his liberators are due to play The Chilli Festival at Sawtell in early June. This follows on from a gig the night before when the band returns to Finnians in Port MacQuarie. Gupta is looking forward to his two favourite things rolled into one- a night out with RMG surrounded by his favourite fruit (yes…chilli is botanically a fruit). He is currently consulting his ancient cookbook for his favourite ‘chilli and garlic buttered chicken and custard’ recipe which he will present in honour of the event.
If you can’t make it to either of the two events above, here’s a rundown of the next month or so…it’s great.
27th May – Beach Hotel, Byron Bay
It goes off in a big way. I don’t what those Brazilian backpackers are shouting at me but I like it.
3rd June – Tatts Hotel, Lismore
with Bill Jacobi…he’s worth the entry alone. Really looking forward to this one. It’s a great room and a fantastic line-up for the price of two schooners.
4th June- Cabarita Sports Club
Playing in the shadow of Round Mountain. Likely to be immense. A real gathering of the original RMG clan base, as well as TB’s birthday.
11/12/13 June – Cooly Rox Festival, Coolangatta
This replaces the Wintersun Festival. Retro, Elvis’s, Rockabilly and RMG!!! Three gigs over the weekend. Check the website for dates and times.
19th June – Hotel Brunswick – Brunswick Heads
Each gig there seems to get bigger and bigger. There’s no better place to spend a Sunday afternoon. One of the best venues in the universe, due to the beautiful clientele as much as the ambience.
1st July – Finnians, Port MacQuarie.
Had a stunning debut there in March and fell in with love the locals. They certainly know how to have a good time.
2ND July – Chilli Festival, Sawtell
We had to pull out of our last gig at the Sawty Pub due to the premature birth of Rabbit and Vicki’s little boy (who by the way is now bouncing). We’ve been given a chance to make amends and we’re grabbing it with both hands.
